Xerox this week announced the completion of its previously announced sale of its Information Technology Outsourcing business to a French company called Atos.
As part of that sale, about 180 Rochester area Xerox workers will now become employees of Atos. But they will still be housed in the same offices in Rochester.
Xerox says the sale of that business will help the company to focus resources on expanding their business process and document outsourcing businesses, areas where the company has a competitive advantage.
Xerox expects to use the net proceeds from the Atos deal of about $850 million to repurchase common stock and fund acquisitions.
