Windstream, the Arkansas-based telecom that has operations in Rochester, has announced that it has completed its merger with EarthLink. The combined company will retain the Windstream name.
Windstream President & CEO Tony Thomas says the deal will improve the company’s competitiveness while increasing free cash flow and reducing leverage.
Windstream also announced it now expects to achieve more than $150 million in synergies within three years, which is an increase of $25 million over its initial estimates.
Last week Windstream said it will cut about 50 jobs over the next three months in Rochester, mainly in positions that are in corporate support departments, such as finance, legal and human resources.
Moving forward, Windstream expects to have around 900 employees in Rochester.
