West Webster Firefighters Donate To MCC Scholarship Fund

The West Webster Volunteer Fireman's Association is trying to help students who are training to become firefighters.

The association  is donating $15,000  toward a scholarship fund that helps students at MCC who are studying fire protection technology.

The donation is being made in honor of the two firefighters killed in that ambush last Christmas Eve, which took the lives of Mike Chiapperini and Tomas Kaczowka.

The president of the Webster Webster Fireman's Association, Ken Smith, says that MCC program is very appropriate to honor the two fallen firefighters.

"Chip was a graduate of the program at MCC, Tomas was enrolled in it, and they both were very involved with volunteer public service and I just think it would be an honor to them knowing that their lives are being honored by providing scholarships to future firefighters.”

MCC will award two, $1,000  scholarships annually to students majoring in fire protection technology. Residents of Webster are especially encouraged to apply.
