A local man who once held the Guinness Book of World Records for most marathons completed has died.

The Democrat & Chronicle reports that Norm Frank died Tuesday evening at the age of 83. Frank, who has owned a lawn service, averaged 23 marathons a year. The Brighton man's 965 marathons rank fourth all-time for North American runners.

He died in the hospital after years of declining health.  In 2010, Frank was honored with keys to the City of Rochester and Monroe County declared it "Norm Frank Day."

Frank was a graduate of East High School and served in the U.S. Army in the mid 1950s.

He completed at least one marathon in all 50 states.
