Voters in the Village of Brockport have again said “no” to a proposal to dissolve the village.
The results of Tuesday’s voting had 632 residents in favor of dissolving the village and 817 against that idea. 28 affidavit ballots still have to be verified by the Monroe County Board of Elections.
It was the second time in the last several years a dissolution vote went down. It was also rejected in 2010.
The backers of the movement to dissolve felt that consolidating the village with the Town of Sweden would save tax dollars.
But opponents expressed concerns about a loss of services, including the village police department.
