Over 100 employers with hundreds of positions to fill met with prospective employees during the Veterans Outreach Center's 14th annual Veterans Job Expo in Rochester.
VOC Executive Director Todd Baxter says its one of the most important services the Center can provide to the community.
Baxter says the unemployment rate for veterans nationally is higher than the rest of the population, and job fairs like this can match employers with potential employees who have the skill sets they're seeking.
US Navy veteran Gary Reubens says veterans are well disciplined, going through military training, and he learned many skills with people, places and things and uses that discipline in every task that he does.
Congresswoman Louise Slaughter addressed the job expo, saying if people are willing to put their lives and limbs at risk for the rest of us, we have no greater obligation than to do what we can to welcome them home and ease them back into civilian life.
Organizers say the Veterans Job Expo offers a professional networking forum for the unemployed, underemployed, or those seeking career advancement opportunities or supplemental employment.
