Research done partly here in Rochester is making headlines around the world.
A first-of-its kind study says there is a way to predict, through a blood test, whether a healthy person will develop Alzheimer's Disease.
UR Medicine neuropsychologist Mark Mapstone is the lead author of the study.
Researchers found that the levels of 10 lipids, or fats, found in the blood could determine with over 90 percent accuracy which patients would get develop Alzheimer's or mild cognitive impairment.
It's hoped that someday the test will be available in doctor's offices.
