University Of Rochester Awarded $3.7 Million For Cancer Research

The University of Rochester will be receiving $3.7 million in federal funds to conduct clinical trials aimed at improving cancer prevention, screening and treatment.

That according to New York Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand who say the money provides continued support for the U of R Cancer Center. One of the areas the research will look at is the side effects stemming from cancer treatment.

Officials note that side effects from cancer treatment not only affect the patients' overall well-being, they can also result in having to limit doses of potentially valuable cancer medication.
