The Boards of Directors of Rochester General and Unity Health Systems named the executive team to lead the newly formed health organization.
Officials named non-clinical vice presidents and directors who will take charge once the legal paperwork for the acquisition commences this summer.
Current CEO's Mark Clement, of RGH, and Warren Hern, of Unity, will serve as co-CEO's - with a different management responsibilities - while a national search is conducted for a new chief to lead the new health organization.
Bob Dobies is the current board chair of RGH, he will assume that same role after the merger. Dobies says the executive search is underway.
"We'll look very closely from where he's coming from. His patient satisfaction is, what his doctor satisfaction is, what his quality metrics were, how he did financially all those things. So it's very, very important that we continue to be patient centric and move to population health. But we're going to be very careful looking at the credentials of the new CEO."
Dobies says the board hopes to select a new leader by the end of the year.
The merger of the two health systems received clearance from the Federal Trade Commission in May, and approval by the state Department of Health in April of this year.
There are approximately 14,000 employees between Unity and RGH. Officials say the merger will have minimum impact on clinical services. Official say no facilities will close under the merger or will there be any layoffs of clinical staff. However, there may be reductions in financing, billing and purchasing positions.
The health systems are slated to formally merge in mid-July.
