The University of Rochester has been named a Center for AIDS Research by the National Institutes of Health.   The designation will bring $7.5 million more in funding to local HIV/AIDS research into the prevention, detection and treatment of the disease.

Dr. Stephen Dewhurst, Vice Dean for Research at the University of Rochester's School of Medicine and Dentistry,  spoke with us on Morning Edition today about what the designation means for the University of Rochester and what types of studies researchers will be focusing on.
