Two People Charged after fatal Letchworth incident in June

A Wyoming County grand jury has handed down a 28-count indictment accusing two Rochester men with charges that include manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide after an incident last June at Letchworth State Park.

34 year old Tyler Jennings and 32 year old Chad Staley were charged in connection with the deaths of two children. Authorities say on June 11th, five children and two adults were in a restricted area of the park, in the water just above the Lower falls, when the water swept all seven people over a 70 foot waterfall.

9 year old Dylan and 6 year old Preston Giangregorio, brothers who were both Brockport students, did not survive the fall. The other three children and the two defendants who also went over the falls were not seriously injured.

The Wyoming County District Attorney, Donald O’Geen says that while it is a tragic case it’s important to note that the deaths were 100 percent preventable.

Jennings and Staley, who also face charges of endangering the welfare of a child,  were released pending another court appearance in January.
