Top Local Frontier Communications Official Is Leaving That Post

Frontier Communications' top official in Rochester has decided to leave that job. Frontier confirms that Phil Yawman, who has been vice president and general manager at Frontier in Rochester for about the last 18 months will leave as of June 30.

A spokesman tells WXXI News that Yawman is leaving to pursue other interests and the company says it appreciates his many contributions to Frontier over the last several years.

Frontier says it has a strong leadership team for Rochester, including its Senior Vice President for all of Frontier's New York State operations, as well as three general managers in Rochester.

Yawman actually had joined Frontier in 1989, then left in 1997 to take an executive position for ACC Corp. He was one of the founders of Choice One Communications after that. He returned to Frontier in 2009.

Randy Gorbman is WXXI's director of news and public affairs. Randy manages the day-to-day operations of WXXI News on radio, television, and online.
