Three injured after small plane accident in Geneseo

Spectrum News

Authorities are looking into an incident at the Geneseo Airport that happened Friday evening where a small plane crashed.

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Department says three patients were taken to the hospital with what appear to be non-life threatening injuries.

The injured people included the pilot and two teenage passengers.

It happened when the Cessna aircraft was just taking off, and the incident occurred at about 6pm, after events at the Geneseo Airshow had wrapped up for the day.

Officials with the airshow say the incident happened during an after-show activity and was not part of the airshow. It involved a Civil Air Patrol plane.

Authorities say the 65 year old pilot suffered a broken back, but was stable and alert. Two Civil Air Patrol cadets in the plane, a 14 and a 16 year old, appeared to have just bumps and bruises.

The FAA and NTSB will investigate the incident.

Officials say the airshow will continue as planned this weekend with no change in activities. You can find more details about the airshow itself, here.
