Tavis Smiley on the State of Poverty in ROC

On this week’s Need to Know Rochester – a special sit-down interview with author, talk show host and journalist, Tavis Smiley. Smiley discusses the state of poverty in Rochester and what needs to be done so the city doesn’t become the next Detroit.

Also on the show, the next installment of WXXI’s Schools for South Sudan. Meet the students and teachers of the Ajong Primary School. It’s one of the first new school sites in Mayan-Abun, South Sudan, since independence and it’s being supported by Rochester-area residents, businesses, synagogues, churches & schools.
