Sydor Instruments, which works with specialized types of imaging techniques such as ballistics and does other types of diagnostics, has received a one million dollar grant from the U.S. Department of Energy.
The Chili company will use that grant in collaboration with the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory to develop a new X-ray imaging camera.
Officials with the company say it will improve the ability to study the characteristics of certain types of substances.
The product will be sold to the research market.
