State Urges Students to File for College Aid Now

Now is the time to apply for financial aid for college in the fall according to New York State Education officials

Jennifer Dwire is client relations manager at New York State Higher Education Services Corporation. She says a recent survey shows 1.7 million people eligible to file the "Free Application for Federal Student Aid," did not file the form.

And that's significant because the FASFA is the gateway to all financial aid types.

Dwire says because some colleges have earlier deadlines for student aid than others, its important people looking to apply for financial aid, get those forms in as soon as possible.

She says her state agency's website, start here get there.org has information about all the financial aid opportunities that are available.
