St. Patrick's Day Parade To Affect Downtown Traffic On Saturday

Activities associated with the St. Patrick's Day Parade and the Johnny's Runnin' of the Green road race will affect Downtown traffic Saturday, March 15.

The Johnny's Runnin' of the Green road race will begin at 9:30 a.m., on Exchange Boulevard between Broad Street and Court Street and proceed southbound on Exchange Boulevard, turn eastbound on Ford Street then southbound on Wilson Boulevard to Fraternity Road. At that point the runners will turn around and reverse their route back to the Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial. These streets will be closed at 9:15 a.m. and are expected to re-open at 11 a.m.

Parade contingents will begin staging for the St. Patrick's Day Parade at 11 a.m. along East Avenue and side streets between Alexander and Goodman Streets. These streets will be closed to traffic from 11 a.m. until the last contingent crosses the Parade starting point at the corner of East Avenue and Alexander Street. The Parade begins at 12:30 p.m.

The parade will begin at the corner of East Avenue and Alexander Street and will proceed westbound on East Avenue to Main Street; then westbound on Main Street to South Plymouth Avenue. The parade will turn south on South Plymouth Avenue and proceed to Broad Street between Exchange Street and Plymouth Avenue for disbandment. The Parade route will be closed to traffic at Noon and is expected to re-open at 3 p.m.
