Snow, mixed precip. slickens roads; more snow by Christmas

A White Christmas is looking a lot more likely, but before we get there, be prepared for very changeable weather conditions and some slick roads.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for most of Western NY and the Finger Lakes.

About 2 to 4 inches of snow fell overnight from Thursday into Friday morning, and News 8 Meteorologist Josh Nichols is expecting a little more snow during the day on Friday, mixing in with some sleet, freezing rain and  just plain rain by the afternoon, with a high in the 30s.

Some rain showers are possible Friday night, with the low temp. rising to around 40.

Saturday will see some rain in the morning changing over to a bit of sleet in the afternoon before ending as flurries with a high of 40.

Sunday, it will be colder, with some flurries and a high of 32.

And Josh Nichols says periods of snow are expected on Christmas day with some significant accumulations in spots, and a high of  29.

The forecast calls for sharply colder weather late in the week.
