Significant Drug Bust in Rochester

A father and two of his sons are facing drug trafficking and gun possession charges after authorities say they seized a large amount of cash, drugs and weapons.

Assistant U-S Attorney Everardo Rodriguez says a criminal complaint charges 31 year old Blake Rivera of Greece, his 25 year old brother Chayanne Rivera of Gates, and their 51 year old father, Victor Rivera of Rochester, with conspiring with the intent to distribute cocaine, crack cocaine and heroin, and gun possession.

"We seized a total of about 9 kilograms of cocaine, a half a kilogram of crack cocaine, there were 14 firearms seized, many of them assault-style rifles, most of them loaded...and then approximately $375 thousand dollars in cash was seized."

He says the arrests come as a result of a nine month investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Rochester Police Department with assistance from numerous other law enforcement agencies.

The three men are being held pending detention hearings later this week, and the investigation continues.

The charges carry a mandatory minimum of 15 years in prison, a maximum of life and a $10 million (m) dollar fine.
