Several RIT students displaced after apartment fire

Several students were displaced from an  RIT-owned housing complex after a fire Tuesday night.

A statement on the university’s website says it happened just after 8pm, at a Colony Manor apartment in Henrietta.

RIT says three of its students were evaluated at the scene for possible smoke inhalation, and all are doing fine.

Officials say the fire did cause structural damage to three units and housing arrangements have been made for approximately 10 RIT students.

The university says that the fire appears to have started in a kitchen, but the exact cause remains under investigation.

A statement from RIT said that, “We are thankful that everyone is safe tonight. We would also like to thank RIT Public Safety, RIT Ambulance and the Henrietta Fire Department for their quick response.”
