Governor Cuomo was in Batavia Tuesday to announce that a company which manufactures technologies for the solar energy industry will build a plant at the 'STAMP' business park in Genesee County, and that's expected to create at least 600 new full time jobs over the next five years.
The Massachusetts-based company, called 1366 Technologies, expects to eventually create more than 1,000 new jobs in the Finger Lakes region.
Speaking at Genesee Community College, Cuomo said that the $700 million investment is an enormous vote of confidence in the upstate economy.
"We are attracting advanced manufacturing, and solar power is, according to everyone, a big solution for the future and a solution that we want to be part of"
New York State is offering an incentive package to the company which involves up to $56.3 million in benefits as well as low cost hydropower.
