Sending Bottled Water to Flint

jordanhealth.org

"I'm looking at thousands and thousands of bottles of water."

Janice Harbin is President and CEO at Jordan Health, a Federally Qualified Healthcare Center in Rochester.

She says her employees came to her with an idea about collecting bottled water to help the residents of Flint, Michigan, whose water is contaminated with lead.

The lead problem certainly hits home here in Rochester, according to Harbin.

"We see the patients, or the residents in Flint, Michigan, are actually the same patients that we see here in Rochester. It's a different city, in a different state, may look a little different, but these are the same patients that we service everyday.  So it was a natural fit."

Employees, along with several other organizations have joined in the effort.

Jordan Health is working in conjunction with another Federally Qualified Healthcare Center in Flint to bring the bottled water to residents in need.

Harbin says at least one 18 wheeler loaded with bottled water will be heading from Rochester to Flint on Monday.

People can donate funds or packaged bottled water, not individual bottles.

There are three drop off locations:

82 Holland Street

322 Lake Avenue

480 Genesee Street

Harbin says people can help by making out a check to Jordan Health (Water for Flint)
