New York Senator Charles Schumer says he called Xerox Chairwoman and CEO Ursula Burns to ask about the effect of the split of the company into two pieces on Rochester employment. He says she told him that her expectation is the division will not lead to reductions in the workforce levels in Rochester.
Schumer says Burns "assured me that this split will not impact current job levels or Xerox's footprint in Rochester."
The New York Democrat says Burns also made it clear that there are no plans to sell, further divide, or weaken the Document Technology Business that is based in Rochester.
Schumer says Burns made it clear that the Document Technology business remains strong and that Xerox remains committed to Rochester.
The senator says he will monitor the situation closely in the coming weeks and months.
