RPO names new president and CEO

The RPO has a new president and CEO. The board chairperson of the orchestra, Jules Smith says that Curtis Long has been named to those roles.

He has been president of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra since 2008.

Long previously worked in executive positions with the Dayton Philharmonic and the Delaware Symphony.

He succeeds Ralph Craviso, who came on board with the RPO in 2015, and told WXXI News in June that he was looking to transition out of that job.

Craviso says the orchestra is on track to achieve a balanced budget for its current fiscal year, for the first time in six years, but he says now it’s time for the RPO to move to a new president and CEO to lead the orchestra into the future.

Randy Gorbman is WXXI's director of news and public affairs. Randy manages the day-to-day operations of WXXI News on radio, television, and online.
