Two days in to her new position, Jamie Romeo says she has a lot of ideas and is reaching out to party leaders to get the ball rolling.
Right now, her main priority is getting the word out about ongoing campaigns, like Sandy Frankel for Monroe County Executive.
"We want to make sure people know what's going on and that we have so many opportunities for them to get involved."
Romeo says she's not the only 30 year old in Monroe County with an interest in politics.
"We have definitely have a growing sense of a lot of young people and a lot of younger families that are looking to get more civically and more politically involved."
Romeo says as a mother to young child, she understands how politics can sometimes take a back-seat to day-to-day responsibilities. In her new position, she says she hopes she can be an example to people, and that seeing someone they consider a peer might convince them that they can and should take stock in their communities by becoming politically active.
