Flurries are in the forecast, but here's a sure sign of spring: Rochester's bike share program is up and running for a second season.
The program has a new name this year: Pace. It's still operated by Zagster.
Like last year, a 30 minute ride costs a dollar. But riders can return bikes to any public bike rack for no extra charge.
And new this year: free rides to the Public Market on Saturdays. Zagster spokesperson Aviva Manin says they want to help riders solve transportation problems.
"You know, we've all been in that line of cars just trying to just go and buy our watermelons, and it can take a good part of your Saturday. If you park at either of the Pace stations at the Public Market, you won't be charged for your ride. And then you can take your watermelon and grab a ride share home and avoid all the traffic."
There are now 350 bikes at 50 different stations around Rochester, an expansion over the 2017 pilot program that included 46 stations and 340 bikes. Zagster hopes to add more bikes and locations over the next 90 days. The company is asking riders to Tweet @ZagsterROC with suggestions.
