Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren has named Mitch Rowe to the new position of Director of Buildings and Parks.
In a statement released Thursday, Warren said that the job will be effective July 1 with the start of the new fiscal year and a reorganization of the Department of Environmental Services.
Rowe previously was the city's Director of Planning and Zoning. He also worked for the city from 1980 to 2006 in several capacities including Deputy Commissioner of Parks, Recreation and Human Services.
Rowe is also a former Seneca County Manager.
Mayor Warren says the development and maintenance of parks and buildings is central to her administration's mission of creating jobs, safer neighborhoods and providing all children with a quality education. A city hall spokesperson says the reorganization of the Department of Environmental Resources used previously existing positions and resources.
Marguerite Parrino has been named Interim Director of Planning and Zoning.
