Rochester Could Get County Help For Cost Of Performing Arts Study

TWC News

As Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren and City Council members talked on Monday evening about the mayor’s request for funding a study on a performing arts center, Warren told them the county is willing to help out with the cost.

Warren originally proposed a $211,000 study funding with $100,000 in state money and the city picking up $111,000.  Warren now says that Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks plans to put $81,000 toward the study, which would reduce the city’s share to $30,000.

Brooks’ office told Time Warner Cable News she is supportive of a performing arts center, but a county spokesman said that a commitment to offer county funding for the proposed study is premature.

Council is expected to meet again Tuesday night and possibly could vote on it then.
