Rochester City Council has scheduled a forum for next Thursday to get public comments about plans for Parcel 5.
AsWXXI News reported on Thursday, the Arts and Cultural Council for Greater Rochester and some of its members including Geva and the RPO have expressed concerns about the process that has been in place so far.
The arts groups want to have more discussion about the impact the project would have on other arts organizations.
The proposal calls for a 3,000 seat performing arts center, along with housing, retail and restaurants.
City Council says that since the announcement Mayor Lovely Warren made back in April about favoring the plan put forth by RBTL and Morgan Communities, no legislation has come before City Council yet to consider. But in anticipation of future legislation, there will be a public forum Thursday, August 10th , 5:30 p.m. in Council Chambers.
“We know there is a need for a thoughtful public discussion regarding Parcel 5, and we want to hear from our constituents in advance of any formal legislation regarding this parcel,” said Council President Loretta Scott, “therefore, we will be holding this public forum with the hope of hearing from residents throughout the City.”
