Rich Funke Swearing-In Ceremony For State Senate

TWC News

NY State Senator-elect Rich Funke took the oath of office on Saturday at the Monroe County Office Building.

More than 100 family, friends, and supporters were there including County Executive Maggie Brooks, and County Clerk Cheryl Dinolfo, both fellow Republicans.

Funke is a former longtime news and sports anchor at WHEC-TV and his former co-anchor, Janet Lomax emceed the event.

Funke’s remarks included a call for more state aid for Rochester and echoed other themes he talked about during the campaign:

I said it before and I’ll say it again: If Buffalo got $1 billion, by God Rochester better be next,” “We need our fair share. We need more jobs. We need lower taxes. It’s time to end Common Core, repeal the Safe Act, and finally pass equal pay for equal work. Most of all, it’s time to forge a State government that helps our area capitalize on its many assets to reach its true potential, instead of one that stands in the way. Together, that work starts today.”

Funke defeated incumbent Democrat Ted O’Brien in November to win the 55th State Senate Seat which includes parts of Monroe and Ontario Counties.
