Return of the Rhinos

Despite winning it all last year, the Rochester Rhinos were losing fans, and finally they lost their owner when his operating license was revoked.

The league says it found what it was looking for in new owners David and Wendy Dworkin, who were officially introduced Thursday.

The say they've made a million dollars in upgrades at Rhinos Stadium, and they're looking forward to success on and off the field.

"Soccer is an exploding sport, it's always been a soccer town in Rochester, and we're just happy to have something here for the fans to support. There's going to be all new fan experiences, there will be upgraded seating options, there will be field seats we'll be offering for the first time, and improved food and beveridge options."

USL Chief Marketing Officer Tom Veit says the league looks for three main things from its teams: a great market that wants to embrace soccer, a great stadium, and committed local ownership.

Veit says Rochester has all three.

The Rhinos open their season April 2nd in Pittsburgh, and play their home opener April 23rd at Sahlen's Stadium.
