The Pub at Wegmans Opens its Doors

Wegmans

Wegmans first Rochester-area pub is open for business.

It’s next to the Market Café at the Perinton Wegmans.

It offers a robust menu, with appetizers, snacks and pairings, salads, sandwiches and entrees, according to Wegmans director of restaurant operations, Kathy Haines.

She says there’s also a full service bar, with local and popular craft beers, wine, and cocktails.

“If you would like to have a beer with your dinner, or a nice glass of wine, or even a cocktail for that matter, you know those kinds of things. The chain restaurants of the world, they all have liquor licenses. That’s the same premise that we’re operating on.”

Haines says they try to create a family atmosphere at the Pub where the food is first, and the beverage is there complement it.

She says about half of the customers at Wegmans Pubs in other markets visit it as a destination.

“It’s about 50-50.  So when we’ve done some surveys we’ve found that it is a destination spot, but it’s also a spot where ‘you know what, I have to shop so I’m going to eat there and shop as well.’”

Haines says Wegmans other Pub in New York, on Transit Road in Buffalo, has been very well received.
