Pittsford temporarily closes nightclub after brawl, shots fired

Spectrum News

Town of Pittsford officials have temporarily closed a nightclub following an early morning shooting.

Town Supervisor Bill Smith says that a ‘cease and desist’ order was placed on Taylor’s nightclub after the early Monday morning incident on Monroe Avenue, not far from Wegmans and Pittsford Plaza.

It happened at about  12:30 a.m. on Monday, after a fundraiser for the family of a man who was fatally shot in Rochester area last year.  Deputies were called to the scene after a report of hundreds of people involved in a fight outside the nightclub, and one man was grazed by a gunshot.

Smith says the club will remain closed until town officials can take a closer look at its operations.

Some other, relatively minor incidents were reported at the club over the last year.
