Pittsford Residents Consider Referendum On Improving Athletic Fields

Town of Pittsford residents go to the polls Tuesday on a proposal to bond $6 million to finance improvements to town-owned community athletic fields.

The project seeks to resolve problems related to athletic field conditions stemming from overuse, drainage and other issues.

Proposed improvements also include a synthetic turf field at Thornell Farm Park with lights and creating new fields at the town's Willard Road property.

Athletic fields would also be improved at Great Embankment Park and Hopkins Park.

Officials say the cost for the average home property taxpayer would not exceed 47 dollars a year over a period of 15 years.

Voting is from 7am to 9pm at the King's Bend Park Lodges. There are more details at the Town of Pittsford website.
