The widow of a slain Rochester Police officer got some special donations Tuesday to help her family. Amy Pierson, whose husband Daryl was shot and killed in the line of duty in September, received a check for $15,000.

The money came from a benefit concert at the Main Street Armory earlier this month featuring Rochester's own Lou Gramm, the former lead singer of Foreigner, and other musicians who donated their time for the cause.

Pierson says she's just been overwhelmed by the kind of support she has received.

"I’ve had more people to thank than I could even count through this whole tragedy and I've said before what an incredible family Rochester is. What superstar comes off a European tour to do a benefit concert for a family he's never met?"

Pierson has two young children. At a presentation at the police Locust Club, Gramm says he wanted to get involved even though he didn't know the Piersons before this tragedy.

"It just touched my heart, the whole story, it's the kind of tragedy that, it just gives you the feeling you want to do something. We were fortunate that this concert drew the attention that it did ."

Also on hand at the presentation at the presentation were representatives of Marina Auto Group. They gave her a new car.
