One Person Dies In A Webster Fire

(TWC News) One person is dead following a fire Friday morning in the town of Webster. Several fire companies were called in just before 9 a.m. Firefighters said a woman who lived inside the home on Hrezent View Lane was not able to make it out. The home is located off Holt Road, north of Route 104.

According to Time Warner Cable News, Webster firefighters were first to respond along with a Webster Police Officer. He hurt his wrist trying to break glass out of a garage door trying to get to the woman inside.

Firefighters were able to knock the fire down quickly but were not able to save the woman whose name has not been released. The victim and her husband live at the home. Time Warner Cable News was told he was not home at the time of the fire.

"Anytime there's a fatality it's treated as a crime scene. It's early in the investigation at this point, it's way too early to make any kind of determination or guess," said Webster Fire Chief Jim Thayer.

Firefighters and neighbors say the woman did use an oxygen tank. Investigators are working to determine the cause.
