Village of Newark Police continue to try to get more information about a possible carjacking and abduction.
Chief David Christler says the incident began just before one this morning, when a man called authorities to say a woman from New York City who was visiting told him she had been carjacked and then kidnapped.
'It started when 911 got a call from an individual who said they had a friend who was coming up from New York City, called him on the phone, and there was more than one phone call, but the last phone call they had, the friend said that her car had been stolen and she was being abducted"
Police say they are still trying to verify the details and the woman's identity. Tentatively, they believe she is AlexsaAcevedo, who is around 28 years old. She was reportedly driving a white, four door Toyota, and may have been wearing a black sweater, short white dress and knee high boots. Her friend told police she said she was at a brown house with a large pine tree in the front.
Her car may have a license plate that has the numbers "200 " in it.
Authorities say she had apparently been communicating with someone in this area through an app called "Kik " and because of that police have not yet been able to track down her cell phone. Christler cautions that the investigation is just beginning and does not believe there is any reason for village residents to be unnecessarily concerned.
