New York State is leading the nation in all yogurt production. Governor Cuomo made the announcement Thursday.
State yogurt processors produced 692-million pounds of yogurt this past year - beating out California, which produced 587-million pounds of yogurt.
New York’s yogurt plants have nearly tripled in production, and milk production grew by more than one-billion pounds - making the state the fourth largest milk producing state in the country. Since taking office, the governor has rolled out a series of initiatives aiming to help the dairy industry, including providing incentives for plant expansion and lowering costs for dairy farmers.
