Design plans for the new Golisano Children’s Hospital provides more space for patients and their families. The new tower would include eight floors with private rooms and hospitality suites that parents with sick children can use to shower, cook or do laundry.
Dr. Bradford Berk, URMC CEO, says privacy, space and the ability to meet with doctors and nurses in the presence of the patient are families’ top priorities, “And so you have a wonderful opportunity for communication, that is, not just for medical needs but the rehabilitation needs - the needs that other family members are going to experience and for all the members of the medical team."
Construction on the new children’s hospital is set to begin by fall, with a completion date of 2015.
