Nazareth College & SU's Law School Will Offer Combined Program

Nazareth College

Nazareth College is partnering with the Syracuse University College of Law on a new program that will allow a student to earn a bachelor's degree and a law degree in six years.

It consists of three years at each school and the first year of law school at Syracuse would be billed at the Nazareth College undergrad tuition rate.

Students involved in the program can expect to save $88,000 by the time they finish law school.

Ian Mortimer is Vice President for Enrollment Management at Nazareth.  He says this special program allows qualified students to take some of the guesswork out of what they want to get out of their higher education.

"Rather than forcing uncertainty into the process in terms of, 'will I get into law school, can I afford law school,' etc., what a program like this does is that for a super motivated student, it allows them to plan financially and also gives them a clear expectation of what they have to do and when they have to do it."

Mortimer says it's hard to say just how many students will take advantage of the new program, but he says he's already had several inquiries. It's expected students can start enrolling in the program next fall.

Mortimer says it's certainly possible that Nazareth will look for similar partnerships in the future.
