Four children were "officially" adopted by their new families during a National Adoption Day Ceremony at the Hall of Justice today.

National Adoption Day finalizes adoptions of children from foster care.

For Jason and Joy Kaminski, it meant the end of a year and a half long process that enabled them to adopt their son, Joshua.

They called it an awesome day.

Brandon Connor and his wife Teresa, adopted their second child, 7-year old Dominique.

Connor says it's exiting to be an adoptive parent, and by adopting a child from foster care, you give them a chance to have a forever home.

National Adoption Day aims to raise awareness of the over 100-thousand children in the United States legally freed free for adoption.

On average these children wait five years to be adopted.
