Monroe County's New Public Safety Director is a Familiar Name
County Executive Maggie Brooks made the announcement Thursday that former Rochester Police Chief David Moore will direct the public safety department -- the 2nd largest department in Monroe County.
Moore succeeds the retiring Steve Bowman, and says his priorities include interoperability and communication among the many public safety entities.
Moore will oversee all public safety services with the exception of those provided by the Sheriff, District Attorney and Public Defender.
Moore was Rochester Police Chief from 2006 to 2010, and recently served as Director of Public Safety for Monroe Community College.
He'll start at his new post in early June.
