McGuire Wants To Withdraw His Name From Consideration For Conservative Backing In 133rd

There’s been another twist in the upcoming general election for the 133rd State Assembly District seat previously held by Bill Nojay.

Conservative Party candidate Jason McGuire says he is asking the NYS Conservative Party to withdraw his name from consideration.

McGuire, who is also the Livingston County Conservative  Party Chairman, says he is concerned that if he remains on the ballot “ it greatly increases the likelihood that a candidate who does not represent the values of either the Conservative or Republican Parties would be elected.”

Nojay, who died by suicide a week ago, had the Republican, Conservative, Reform and Independence Party Lines on the November ballot.

He was the top vote getter in Tuesday’s primary despite his death, and that gave the right to the GOP chairmen in the three counties in the district, Monroe, Livingston and Steuben, the right to pick a Republican candidate. They chose former Assemblyman Joe Errigo.

McGuire is now asking the NYS Conservative Party to back Errigo’s bid for the Assembly seat.

Barbara Baer has the Democratic, Working Families and Women’s Equality lines  on the November ballot.
