Mayor Warren Wants McFadden To Step Down From The RHA

Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren would like the Interim Director of the Rochester Housing Authority, Adam McFadden to resign that post and not seek a permanent appointment.

But it doesn’t appear that McFadden, who is also a Rochester City Councilman, is ready to do that.

In her statement issued on Monday afternoon, Warren talks about the complaints by many residents at a packed meeting of the housing authority board. She noted a lack of transparency in the hiring process in the effort to replace Executive Director Alex Castro who was fired last week.

Warren says she explained to McFadden, who she calls her “friend and political ally, “ that his hasty appointment damaged the integrity of the process.

McFadden has issued a statement saying that he wants to continue as interim director because he feels he’s the best person to lead the kind of reform that is needed in public housing.

McFadden says he will not seek the permanent job as executive director following his three-month stint as interim director.

Warren says she does stand by the current board in its decision to dismiss Castro; but she also says the board's actions raised a lot of questions in the way they picked an interim executive director.
