The Lyft ride sharing service will have to suspend operations in Rochester and Buffalo by August 1st.
That word came Friday from State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and State Superintendent of Financial Services Benjamin Lawsky who say that Lyft has agreed to operate in the state in full compliance with existing regulations.
The company will launch its service in New York City beginning Friday night with commercial drivers. Lyft has agreed to suspend service in Rochester and Buffalo by August and has committed to work with the state so that any future business it undertakes in New York is in full compliance with the law.
A statement from the San Francisco based company says that Lyft will “pause operations” in Buffalo and Rochester while it works with state officials to align current insurance laws and regulations with emerging technologies.
