Some area businesses are benefiting from the lower gas prices.

Mark McMann is president and owner of Ballantyne RV and Marine.

He says he's been in the business 32 years, and the number of people looking at motor homes right now is more than he's seen in a decade.

And many of them are new customers.

McMann says there have been huge crowds at the RV and boat show underway at the Dome Arena.

He says the bottom line is when gas prices go down, more people consider getting an RV or boat.

Those already in the RV or boating lifestyle are going to do it, regardless if gas is 5 dollars or 2 dollars a gallon.

Still, McMann says the low gas prices are allowing many baby boomers to live a lifestyle they've envisioned at a price that makes it affordable.

Triple-A reports the average price around Rochester is 2.48 a gallon, down from 3.60 a gallon a year ago.
