WROC-TV meteorologist Scott Hetsko has had a heart transplant. The news was delivered by the station during its 11pm broadcast on Sunday night.

Hetsko had hinted something about the news on social media in recent days, last week saying that his “personal life forecast the next 7 days looks as bright” as recent Rochester weather, and he said he would have good news to share soon.

Hetkso, who is the station’s chief meteorologist, has been off the air since June when he announced he would be taking an extended leave to deal with a serious heart ailment.

On Sunday night, news anchor Maureen McGuire said that Hetsko still has a lot of work ahead with his treatment and recover but says he is home now with his family.
