Livingston County Undersheriff Is Retiring

The Livingston County Undersheriff is retiring.  Jim Szczesniak will leave that job as of December 27th.

Szczesniak says he leaves with mixed emotions, but after 28 years with the department, and having served as undersheriff since 2010, he says it's time to move on and see what other opportunities are out there.

He recently finished a hotly contested campaign for Sheriff, and ended up losing to sheriff's department investigator Tom Dougherty.  But Szczesniak says he does not regret having run for the office, and says it was a great experience.

Szczesniak says the Livingston County Sheriff's Department is a great organization and he's confident they will continue to be a very strong department.
