Hundreds of people attended a special luncheon today to honor Larry and Jane Glazer.

The prominent business people from Rochester were killed in September in a plane crash.

WXXI honored the Glazers by naming them the WXXI 2014 Associates of the Year.

President and CEO Norm Silverstein says Larry and Jane Glazer were both members of the WXXI's board and they co-chaired the station's comprehensive campaign.

He says both were committed to public media and many other organizations through the years, and it was decided months ago that the Glazers would be honored.

Ken Glazer and his sister Mindy Maclaren accepted the award on behalf of their parents.

MacLaren said their parents showed them in their words and deeds just how important it was to them to give back to the Rochester community.

She adds it makes sense that they would support WXXI.

Ken Glazer says Buckingham Properties, founded by his father, is continuing on the path that's been laid, with many projects that are both active and in the pipeline.

He adds that WXXI was very important to his parents.

Thursday's luncheon also featured PBS's FRONTLINE producer Michael Kirk talking about producing films and investigative journalism.
