There's been another delay in the work that will close down a portion of the Inner Loop so that it can eventually be filled in.

Originally, a section of the highway between Monroe Avenue and East Main Street was going to be closed November 21st, but that was delayed until this week due to snow that impacted the contractor who is based in Erie County.

But City Engineer Jim McIntosh says that snow pack is still causing a delay for the contractor, so now the plan is to put off the closing until next Tuesday December second.

"He’s having trouble, not getting out the barricades and all those kinds of things to close the Inner Loop but actually getting the equipment out that he's going to start to use to do demolition and break up the pavement and all of that kind of stuff, that's kind of stuck in his yard."

McIntosh says officials are not worried about this causing any major delay in the overall $21 million project.  It is still scheduled to be completed sometime in 2017.

Here are the impacts on drivers when that portion of the Inner Loop is closed:

* Traffic on the north end of the Inner Loop must exit at Scio Street or East Main Street.

* Vehicles at the south end of the Inner Loop must exit at Monroe Avenue.

* The on and off ramps to I-490 at Monroe Avenue and Chestnut Street will remain open.

* Access to all local streets adjoining the project area will be maintained throughout the duration of the project
